DERES is a non-profit business organization that promotes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Uruguay.
DERES is created in 1999 as an initiative of the Catholic University in Uruguay with the goal of establishing a specific organization from where to promote CSR in Uruguay.The growth and recognition that DERES received in the first years gave way to what once was a small group of companies participating in a university sponsored program, to an independent organization that counts with more than 120 member companies.
To be recognized as the leading organization in Uruguay that promotes sustainable business practices contributing towards the sustainable development of the country..
To achieve that the uruguayan business sector develops a sustainable and inclusive management through the adoption of CSR concepts and practices.
Being the only organization in Uruguay focusing exclusively in CSR, DERES is member and focal point of the most important CSR and SD international networks.This allows us to be updated with the ultimate concepts, tools and trends, knowledge that is shared with our members as well as with the business sector as a whole.

What we do
In order to accomplish its Mission, DERES undertakes a whole series of actions and activities in order to facilitate the knowledge and awareness of CSR in Uruguay.
Some of these activities include:
Conferences and Seminars
DERES offers a series of open conferences in which an invited speaker gives a lecture on a specific CSR topic. These speakers are mainly from abroad and are accompanied by a local business executive who gives the local point of view in order to show that CSR can well be practiced in the Uruguayan context.
We publish toolkits that help understand what the CSR issue is about, facilitating companies to implement business practices in their companies.

“DERES Recognition Program for Best CSR Practices”
Since 2011 DERES launched this program to recognize those CSR practices carried out by companies that clearly show the contribution that these practices have for companies and other stakeholders (the “business case”);
Annually, DERES organizes an event where businesses showcase those practices that have received a recognition.

DERES carries out annual “social campaigns” for member companys through which variious isses are addressed.
These campaigns are aimed to raise social concern amongst company workers about issues suchs as healthy nutrition, responsible use of resources, safety in traffic, resp0onsible use of social networks, education, etc.
Media and Communications
Press: DERES publishes a fortnightly page in “El Observador”,the main business newspaper in Uruguay where the latest CSR trends are published. Member companies as well have the chance to express their opinions,present their “business case” as well as to showcase their CSR practices (the complete collection of these publications can be read on our website).
Magazine: DERES publishes the only CSR Magazine in Uruguay distributed amongst the most important business opinion leaders. DERES Magazines covers the most important CSR events, activities and news that take place in Uruguay as well as abroad. With a series of interviews and case studies, DERES Magazine is an excellent instrument to be informed of the CSR status in Uruguay;
